Trout feed at all times until they get to be a year old; then they start developing a feeding ritual. Some will feed at night because the sun hurts their eyes since they have no eyelids. Sometimes other fish will attack from the shade of rocks or other sun obstructions. You can
always count on the fishing being better on days that the moon is going away or gone. If the moon is bright, the larger trout eat smaller trout all night long. Crawfish and skulpins come out at night also, and trout love them both and they have their fill by the time the sun comes up. The fishing is always best on cloudy days; that’s why winter fishing is so good.
