We are blessed with many wonderful large springs in the Ozarks and lots of trout farms. The federal government, when they built Bull Shoals dam, knew that they were destroying one of America’s best bass and catfish streams so they agreed to stock goldwater fish and created
Norfork hatchery below the Norfork Dam. This was a good plan and helped the area to go become a world-winning trout stream. We have had the world record trout four times now, the last of which was caught in the 1990s and weighed in at 40 pounds, four ounces. Now that the Game & Fish Commission has been blessed with a one-eighth percent sales tax, they have built the Mammoth Springs Hatchery.
